Preparing students for the evolving workforce: òòò½ÎÑ hosts region-wide open houses

òòò½ÎÑ is setting the stage for students to excel in an evolving workforce. The College invites the community to its 2025 Open House events, showcasing how education at òòò½ÎÑ empowers learners to adapt, innovate, and thrive in a world reshaped by technology, societal changes, and the future of work.

This January and February, òòò½ÎÑ will host a series of open houses across all campuses, starting with the Vernon campus on January 28.

Events schedule:
: Tues., Jan. 28 from 5 - 7p.m.
Thurs., Jan. 30 from 5 - 7p.m.
Tues., Feb. 4 from 5 - 6:30 p.m.
: Wed., Feb. 5 from 5 - 6:30 p.m.

Each òòò½ÎÑ Campus Open House event offers a College Fair, campus tour and the opportunity to check out òòò½ÎÑ labs and Trades shops. Spotlight Sessions for 10 different òòò½ÎÑ programs are also available (Vernon and Kelowna events only) where future students can learn more about different programs offered at the college and the careers they can lead to. 

"As industries evolve and technology transforms the workplace, òòò½ÎÑ is committed to equipping learners with the skills they need to thrive," said Dr. Samantha Lenci, provost and vice president, academic at òòò½ÎÑ. "Our Open Houses give future students a chance to explore programs designed for today’s world and tomorrow’s opportunities."

The òòò½ÎÑ Open House events connect future students with professors, instructors, and industry-experienced professionals who lead more than 130 programs that emphasize hands-on learning, industry partnerships, and technology-driven training in fields like technology, trades, tourism, health sciences, business and more. Information will also be available about flexible learning options, including microcredentials and part-time studies, designed to support lifelong learners and career changers.

"Whether you're entering post-secondary education for the first time or seeking to upskill in a rapidly changing world, òòò½ÎÑ offers the pathways and support to help you succeed," added Lenci. “As an added incentive to come visit us in person, Open House attendees can apply to attend òòò½ÎÑ on the spot and have their application fee waived.â€

Applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are now open, and programs with earlier start dates are also available. Open House attendees can enter to win a $500 tuition credit to be used towards future education goals at òòò½ÎÑ, with one $500 prize to be won per campus. 

Alison Gibson, dean of community engagement and careers at òòò½ÎÑ, emphasizes how òòò½ÎÑ’s programs are designed to prepare students for the future of work.
"Our programs blend technology, innovation, and practical experience, empowering learners to meet the challenges of today’s workforce and prepare for tomorrow’s careers," said Gibson. "òòò½ÎÑ is a place where students can start, change or advance their careers with confidence and gain the experience they need."
