Delacey Tedesco joins òòò½ÎÑ on March 4, 2024

People Services is pleased to announce that Delacey Tedesco has joined the College, effective March 4, 2024, as Associate Director, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. This is a new position and is an important part of the College's commitment to advancing the work of equity, diversity and inclusion. Delacey starts her new role on March 4, 2024, and will be based in the People Services offices at the Kelowna campus, located on the fifth floor of the Centre for Learning (E) building.

Delacey is an academic professional with deep roots in syilx territory, growing up in Vernon and living in Kelowna for many years. She has a PhD in Political Science from the University of Victoria (2016) and spent five years as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) of Critical International Relations at the University of Exeter, in Cornwall, UK (2017-2022).

Her award-winning research and teaching have focused on both conceptual and practical questions of equity and decolonization, in the southern interior of BC and in international contexts. Delacey's publications have appeared in journals and edited volumes spanning Politics and International Relations, Human Geography, and GeoHumanities.

Delacey returned to Kelowna in 2022 to become the inaugural Cultural Advisor with the City of Kelowna, supporting the City’s work towards Truth and Reconciliation and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. In that role, she has built meaningful community connections and supported staff learning and specific project areas across a range of areas of practice, while maintaining an active research programme with international collaborators.

Returning to a post-secondary environment feels like home, and she is keen to build relationships and support equity and reconciliation work throughout the territories of òòò½ÎÑ’s campuses. Please do reach out to Delacey to welcome her to òòò½ÎÑ!
